Project Partners


The Entente Interdépartementale de Démoustication Méditerranée (Montpellier, France) is the lead partner of POSBEMED, thus in charge of the project management, but also an important contributor to all communication and study activities. More specifically, EID-Med will participate in delivering geospatial data and information about the project objectives, disseminating activities through social and other media, reporting dissemination activities to stakeholders, and presenting the project at local events.

EID-Med designs diagnosis and integrated planning for Mediterranean coastal management. EID-Med works especially on dune restoration and survey of beach-dune systems. It develops restoration and protection techniques used by local authorities, public establishments and coastal managers. These skills are completed by socio-economic valuation expertise on coastal management.

The IUCN Centre for Mediterranean Cooperation (Malaga, Spain) will coordinate part of the POSBEMED communication activities and the overall technical work of data collection and evaluation. In collaboration with all partners, IUCN will prepare the communication plan and a brochure summarizing the main results of the project, deliver geospatial data and information about the project objectives, participate in the socio-economic valuation and management of stakeholders, the guide on existing methods and tools for the sustainable use of seagrass banquettes and associated dunes and the toolkit on recommendations, disseminate and report activities through social and other media, organize a webinar, and present the project at local and regional events. IUCN is also responsible for examine the relation between coastal/marine PA and protection of habitats and the definition of a strategy and action plan for the Mediterranean regions. It will also work providing information and data for the Interreg Med Programme and participating on horizontal project events.

IUCN is involved in a number of pragmatic initiatives to preserve and restore the biological integrity of the Mediterranean Sea, as well as to foster the sustainable development of the region with the objective is to provide scientific knowledge and evidences for influencing national and regional decision makers.

The International Marine Centre Foundation (Sardinia, Italy) is the responsible partner for evaluating ecosystem services of Posidonia beaches and dunes and assessing costs and benefits of beach management with regard to the removal of banquettes along the Mediterranean coasts. In collaboration with all partners, IMC will deliver geospatial data and information about the project objectives, disseminate and report activities through social and other media, organize a webinar, present the project at local events, and participate in horizontal project events.

The IMC Foundation mainly engages in scientific research, international cooperation, education and dissemination activities with the aim to promote the correct management of bio resources and the Mediterranean marine environment.  In this way, the laboratory contributes to the politics of sustainable development of the area.

The Hellenic Centre for Marine Research (Anavissos, Greece) will coordinate the communication activities of the POSBEMED project, including the creation and sharing of posters, brochures, reports, website and facebook pages, organization of webinars, and participation in local and horizontal project events for the dissemination of the project’s objectives and results. Based on input by all partners, HCMR will compile a GIS database of the available data regarding the distribution of coastal touristic activities, Posidonia oceanica meadows and banquettes, dune systems, and coastal protected areas in the Mediterranean region.

The Institute of Oceanography of HCMR is a governmental research organization operating under the supervision of the General Secretariat for Research and Technology (GSRT) of the Ministry of Education, Research and Religious Affairs. It primarily engages in multidisciplinary scientific research in the aquatic environment, but also maintains an active role in shaping and facilitating the implementation of marine environmental policy, promoting sustainability in marine resource management, and transferring knowledge across all educational levels.

ECO-logica S.r.l. is the responsible partner for reviewing existing guidelines for sustainable beaches and stranded seagrass management. It will contribute to delivering geospatial data and information about the project objectives, disseminating and reporting activities through social and other media, organizing webinars, presenting the project at local events, and participating in MED horizontal project events.

ECO-logica is a qualified supplier of engineering services in the planning of works and of manufacturing plants and in environment, quality and safety consulting. It engages on legislation updating, new technologies, study and projects to promoting the environmental sustainability, integrated management system and advice for environmental certifications, plan and works direction of environmental engineering and Bio-Architecture, study and research activity to support town and land-use planning and sustainable mobility, technical assistance to achieve funding, training courses in the field of environment, quality and safety.
